Welcome to Consider More, a space for stories, soft observations and honest reflections from a former journalist who traded breaking news for deeper meaning.
It’s a journal of what I’m learning—and unlearning—about kindness, compassion and connection in a world that often forgets how much we need each other.
You won’t find headlines here, just thoughtful pauses, a few laughs and an invitation to notice what matters.
I write to remember—and to share—that there’s still beauty, still goodness, still something sacred in the way we show up for one another and the world around us. Together, let’s consider more of what truly matters.
about the author
Melissa Correa

Hi! I’m Melissa Correa, a native Texan born and raised in the Rio Grande Valley. As a little girl, my favorite question was “why.” It’s a simple word that invites a deeper understanding of the world and the people around us. Why this and not that? Why not?
I was fortunate to turn that natural curiosity into a successful career. For nearly two decades, I interviewed people about everything from politics and community concerns to natural disasters and World Series wins. I’ve learned so much from listening. It’s helped me understand the depths of pain and privilege, hope and heartache and the sometimes simple choice between feeling despair or pure delight. My career as a local television reporter was marked with awards and accolades—but more than that, it was vibrantly colored by the people I met and the perspectives that changed me.
In 2022, I traded the excitement of a news van for the steady rhythm of a cubicle. My new role as a professional writer in local government helped revitalize my spirit and prepare me for my life’s next great adventure.
I’m beginning this blog two months shy of my 41st birthday, without a single roadmap to guide me. But here’s where faith comes in. I believe God gives each of us gifts to connect with others. Writing has always been mine—whether it’s news stories, articles, thank you cards, text messages or digital diary entries I’ve shared on Facebook over the years. Writing fulfills me. So in a nod to my most authentic self—why not launch a blog as I continued to consider more?
